Horseback riding at the Ranch
Horseback riding is available every day except Sunday. Guests are assigned their own horse for the week, and the riding program begins on Monday morning with instruction in the arena. Then it's off on the
first trail ride in a group of 6-8 riders for your comfort and safety.
As the week progresses, guests may take loping instruction in the arena and enjoy this skill on some of the trails. There's a wide variety of trails, open meadow riding as well as rides to three different cookout sites. Arena games for youngsters and cattle penning for adults on Thursday morning are featured events.
Rides each day typically range from 2-1/2
hours to 4 hours and travel in and out of Ranch-owned lands as well
as the Gunnison National Forest. The "long rides" which are the "high
points" of the week (no pun intended) are above timberline rides
to Stella Mountain and Baldy Mountain and are simply
breathtaking.
We begin children riding
at 6 years of age. Rides generally are divided by age and ability
or families may ride together. Families with younger children may ride
together on beginner trails, since some trails are only suitable for
adults and
older children.
